Read languages & law at Jesus College, Cambridge; joined Cheeswrights in 1975, admitted as a notary in 1980; partner of Cheeswrights in 1981. Publications: editor, Tenth (1988), Eleventh (1992) and Twelfth (2002) editions of “Brooke’s Notary” (Sweet and Maxwell, London) and Hong Kong supplement (2005); consulting editor, Ship Registration: Law and Practice (2002); with the late Theodoros Karatzas of the Athens Bar and subsequently Governor of the National Bank of Greece, “The Greek Code of Private Maritime Law” (1982). He is a past master (2002-2003) of the Worshipful Company of Scriveners and currently chairman of its notarial committee. He is also a member of the livery of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights and Deputy Commissioner of Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Vanuatu.
