Publications: editor, Tenth (1988), Eleventh (1992), Twelfth (2002) and Thirteenth (2009) editions of “Brooke’s Notary” (Sweet and Maxwell, London) and Hong Kong supplement (2005); consulting editor, Ship Registration: Law and Practice (2002); with the late Theodoros Karatzas of the Athens Bar and subsequently Governor of the National Bank of Greece, “The Greek Code of Private Maritime Law” (1982). He is a past master (2002-2003) of the Worshipful Company of Scriveners member of the livery of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights and Deputy Commissioner of Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Vanuatu.

RUTH M. CAMPBELL M.A.

Read languages and literature at Liverpool University; post graduate studies at Leeds University; diplomas from the universities of Besançon, Clermont-Ferrand and Lisbon. Admitted as a notary in 1984 and Partner of Cheeswrights since 1988. She has been a member of WISTA-UK, the organisation for women involved in shipping and trading, since 1993 and is the Master of the Worshipful Company of Scriveners for 2010-2011.

Former Open Exhibitioner of Downing College, Cambridge, where he read history; joined the firm as an articled clerk in 1985 and qualified in 1990. Partner of Cheeswrights since 1994 and managing partner since 2009. He is the chairman of the Society of Scrivener Notaries and an English delegate to the United Kingdom Notarial Forum.
